Don’t Forget About The Emergency In The 10/40 Window

David Joannes

Have you ever experienced that strange phenomenon of seeing the same reoccurring time on the clock day after day? I do. Regularly.

The times I see nearly every day as I glance at my phone, clock and other time sources are always 9:11 and 10:40. It’s bizarre. It’s become a theme in my life that I sense God daily reminding me that there is an emergency (9:11am) in the 10/40 Window (10:40am).

I know it’s silly. It’s just times and numbers. But day after day without fail I end up seeing the same exact times. It serves as a simple reminder for me to pray for:

Here is a powerful video that will encourage you to pray with me for unreached people groups and individuals who have never even heard of the name of Jesus before:

So the next time you look at your watch and it read 9:11 or 10:40, please remember to pray for the emergency in the 10/40 Window, namely that millions are plummeting headlong into hell without knowledge of a Savior.

Pray also how you might partner with Within Reach Global to reach the remaining unreached tribes in Southeast Asia.

“The task of missions is not over. Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven, and the alternative is hell. And millions and millions of people are on their way there, and we have the only means of escape in our hands and in our hearts: Jesus Christ.” – John Piper

Here’s another cool thing my dad encouraged me to do years ago. Every time you look at the clock, try to quote a scripture verse that corresponds to the numbers. For example, if your clock reads 5:10pm, quote Matthew 5:10, “God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.” If the time is 3:16pm, then obviously quote John 3:16, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

You get the point. Have fun!
