Jesus Cared Most About Me Being Comfy, Right?

Here’s the American Popular Version of a quote by Jesus Christ from Matthew 28:19-20 by Adam Ford:

“So guys, if you feel comfy telling someone about me during the regular course of your life, that would be nice of you. If your denomination does baptisms, and if the trinitarian nature of God fits with your worldview, then great, include those aspects in your effort. Be careful not to suggest that they follow my commandments too closely though. That would be weird. You don’t want to be weird.”

Oh, wait, that can’t be right, can it?

Ok, it’s not truly fair to say that this is only the “American” popular version, as a lethargy trend has been set among churches and Christians worldwide. The point of church is not “butts in seats” attendance, but to worship Jesus and draw men and women to God.

“The mark of a great church is not its seating capacity, but its sending capacity.” – Mike Stachura

The gospel is love in action. It is love for God and love for fellow man—whether he be next door or across the oceans at the far edges of the planet.

Unfortunately, like Michael Oh says, “So many Christians seek to live the pain-free Christian life. Such a life has no impact.”

“The Church exists for nothing else but to draw men into Christ, to make them little Christs. If they are not doing that, all the cathedrals, clergy, missions, sermons, even the Bible itself, are simply a waste of time. God became Man for no other purpose.” – C.S. Lewis

Here’s the correct Matthew 28:19-20 quote from Jesus:

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

God is calling us from beyond the 4 walls to reach the lost and broken with his redemptive salvation plan. So what’s your plan of action? What great thing is God calling you to do, and what steps are you taking to get there?
