Missions Pulse 4: Asian Rough Rider

1024 576 David Joannes

In a missiological context, church planting may be defined as “initiating reproductive fellowships who reflect the kingdom of God in the world.” When this happens with rapid growth, it is generally known as a church planting movement or disciple making movement.

In his book, Church Planting Movement, David Garrison defines a Church Planting Movement (CPM) as “…a rapid and multiplicative increase of indigenous churches planting churches within a given people group or population segment.”

To provide a biblical context for church planting movements, Acts 19:10 says that within 2 years of Paul’s preaching and reasoning in the lecture hall of Tyrannus, every Jew and Greek in the province of Asia heard about Jesus. That’s 15 million people!

Acts 19:10, MSG: “He [Paul] did this for two years, giving everyone in the province of Asia, Jews as well as Greeks, ample opportunity to hear the Message of the Master.”

In this episode of Missions Pulse, David Joannes interviews Asian Rough Rider about the power of church planting movements. Asian Rough Rider is a cross-cultural missionary in a restricted access country.
