You are you and no one else. They are themselves, one in 7 billion.
The unreached. They have names. They have dimples and toenails and dreams.
Every one of your hairs are numbered by God, tallied, counted, remembered. Theirs are too. You matter. Your life has intrinsic value as does theirs.
You are not just a number, a statistic, a value. You are you, unique, invaluable, priceless. So are those who have never heard of Jesus before.
We talk of unreached peoples in groups and their meaning is lost. They no longer feel like people, but as a thought, a generalization, a mathematical value.
But just as you are named and remembered and loved, they too have families who care for them, co-workers who like to hang out with them on the weekend, friends who grew up with them.
The next time you hear the rare message of unreached people groups of the 10/40 Window, I would like to encourage you to think of them not as a conglomerate, a mass, a lump sum of ethnolinguistic people groups, but as individuals who laugh out loud, who get upset at injustice, who want to provide for their families, who fart and sob and drink tea or coffee.
Your name is James or Amanda or Stephanie. Their names are Deng Chunfu or Li Mei or Lin Kerui. The only difference is a few letters, or in the case of the Chinese language, a few strokes of characters.
As a believer in Jesus, your name is written in the Book of Life. But they wait, ignorant, untold, as God’s hand hovers over the blank pages of the Book of Life, waiting to add their names to the ever growing list of people who have come to know him in a personal way
Someone needs to tell the unreached that there is hope in Jesus. They are waiting at the other end of our obedience, and God is waiting for us to join him in sharing his epic salvation plan to every corner of the planet, to people who matter, to individuals who are real.
Help Within Reach Global bring the gospel to people groups who have never heard before.
