This was a riveting conversation about how culture affects how we see faith and understand God.
Here’s my thoughts about this topic, Jesus Through The Multifaceted Lens Of Culture:
Revelation 7:9 tells us that every nation, tribe, people and language—every ethnolinguistic tribe—will be represented before the throne of God in heaven. But there are many facets of God’s glory and beauty that we will never truly understand except through the unique expressions that each ethnic people group reveals. We see life, faith, God and our world mainly through the lens of our own ethnocentric culture and upbringing. But his glory and beauty are much broader than we can ever imagine, and crossing cultures to understand differing perspectives of God’s character brings a fuller revelation of his greatness.

“There are people around the world who live in completely different cultures, growing up in a unique context, and they’ve never actually heard about Jesus. So there are people who are born, live their entire life and then die without ever hearing who this Jesus is just because of their environment. That’s why we call them “unreached”, because they haven’t been reached with the actual message of the gospel. That’s why I think this topic of seeing Jesus through the multifaceted lens of culture is important. Culture affects how we see the world, how we see faith and how we understand God.” – Asian Rough Rider
