David Joannes is the Founder/CEO of Within Reach Global, which serves to give gospel access to unreached communities in the spiritual dead zones of Southeast Asia.

He is the author of The Mind of a Missionary, The Mind of a Missionary DevotionalThe Space Between Memories, Gospel Privilege, See the City, and Glorious Hope.

You can find David on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, Vimeo, and Youtube.

David has a love for language, culture, and creative writing. For the last 25 years, he has witnessed God’s kingdom established in forgotten parts of the globe. He is passionate about the 10/40 Window, unreached people groups, Great Commission fulfillment, and all things missions. The fact that over 2 billion people have yet to hear the name of Jesus does not sit well with him.

David began his missionary journey by smuggling Bibles into China. He has been interrogated for his faith over 20 times. Occasionally, he has hidden from the authorities under the sway of bamboo and the dim glow of moonlight. He has eaten meals with headhunters and shared the gospel with tribal witchdoctors. He has been apprehended by over 100 child soldiers carrying AK-47s and has journeyed to some of the world’s most forgotten regions.

But in the thick of such precarious situations, David has also seen the kingdom of God established among unreached and unnamed people groups. He has witnessed secret baptisms, taught at underground Bible trainings, and raised up a group of local missionaries who are planting churches among hard to reach animist, Islamic, atheist, and Buddhist tribes.

After serving for 15 years in Southwest China, David now resides in Chiang Mai, Thailand, for more than 10 years, where he oversees the growing team of local and foreign missionaries at Within Reach Global. He extends gospel access to unreached peoples with his wife, Lorna, and their two daughters.
