It’s been such a joy and satisfaction to see Chinese college students that we are ministering to open up to the word of God.
After we connect with them initially through The Hub outreach center, our college student ministry, we invite those who are hungry for God to our home for Discipleship Dinners. Because we all know that when you feed college students, their hearts open as well!
At our recent Discipleship Dinner, our hearts were stirred with excitement to hear their thoughts on the topic that had been discussed: The Benefit of the Cross And Our Response To It.
The group of Chinese young people we are discipling are on a path toward God. Some of them are not even believers yet. There are atheist or Buddhists on a salvation path to Jesus! And let’s be honest: they are not the easiest people to share the Gospel to.

Early on, when I first started ministry among Chinese college kids, I couldn’t relate whenever missionaries would talk about a huge number of people whom had never heard the gospel, or even the name of Jesus. I actually thought they were just exaggerating their stories for churches and people back home. “No guts, no glory, no newsletter story” right?
It was not until I personally experienced this kind of ministry firsthand—sharing the gospel to people for the very first time in their lives—that the reality of their lostness hit me. It was so exciting, and yet so challenging.
The reality is, from an early age, up through college, these Chinese students sit in their classes and are taught about evolution, taught that there is no God, taught that they are the master of themselves. So much trash needs to be exposed and lies unraveled.

But the word of God is alive and active. It is sharper than any double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Because of God’s touch on these young peoples’ lives, we’ve seen hearts being softened and receptive to the gospel. It’s like music to our ears whenever we hear them express their eagerness to learn and hear more about God and his love.
Seeing them flip through the pages of their new Bible, hearing them reading it out loud for the first time, and witnessing them listening intently while the truth is being preached—now that’s rewarding! God is at work in their lives.

Like Sister Li, whose mother smashed all her life-size Buddhist idols after she shared the gospel to her.
Like Sister M, who is learning how to talk with God through prayer.
We believe that as we sow God’s word in their hearts, he causes his word to sprout and grow. “The harvest is in the seed,” and we need to be faithful to sow it.
We believe that the time will come that this group of young Chinese people will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!
