How are you responding during the COVID-19 crisis? Are you sitting at home, cowering, trying to ride out the wave, or are you seeking opportunities to engage in God’s mission? What is the Spirit stirring in the Church and in the world? Much of our processes and strategies have been stripped away from us. Are we relying on Jesus alone in the midst of this global pandemic?

We talk a lot about white privilege, male privilege, or economic privilege. But rarely do we consider Gospel privilege. Do you realize that over two billion people have no access to the Gospel? We call it Gospel deprivation, and we believe that this is the root cause of the world’s suffering. Let’s not allow the ripe harvest to rot in the fields without a worker to harvest among them.

It’s time to move past your previously established mindset about spiritual transformation. God is always at work in astounding ways. Global pandemic should cause us to pause and listen to believers from around the world who have been dealing with difficulty for decades. A great awakening is coming, and it will permeate every corner of the planet. We must be prepared, and our brothers and sisters around the world have much to teach us.

Spiritual formation should not be internalized and privatized. The big question is, what does my spiritual growth do for others? Philip Nation says that spiritual disciplines are for your growth, for the growth of the Church, and for your engagement into the mission of God.
