When you look at the grand scheme of where the world is going, you see the small part that God calls you play. What is the culmination of all things? Revelvation 7:9: “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.” That’s why Ryan Shaw is passionate about the unreached. He says we need to make sure that every person on the planet should have access to the message of Jesus.

The Church is filled with exciting worship streams and modern styles of musical adoration. But when our worship is individualistic in form, we miss the communal aspect of celebratory worship. This, then, affects our mission focus. In the Gospels, Jesus defined discipleship as a missional lifestyle. Are worship movements propelling us to play our part in Jesus’ command to “go into all the world and make disciples of all nations?” God rescues us from the darkness, brings us into His light-filled Kingdom, then sends us back into the darkness to shine Gospel light.

Ryan Shaw gives a background of the Student Volunteer Movement that transformed the global missions movement.

Is the Great Commission only for affluent, Western churches? Absolutely not! So if that’s the case, how can churches from the Global South fund missionaries to fulfill Jesus’ command? Ryan Shaw takes us back to scripture and reveals a model that is very different from the historical missionary funding route.

We need to stoke a fire for missions. But most people look to people who don’t necessarily have a missions understanding. Many pastors don’t talk about missions or even the mission of God because they don’t have experience themselves. This is a problem. Ryan Shaw talks about tapping into a communal aspect of mobilizing the body of Christ.

Every citizen in God’s Kingdom is significant. David Joannes and Ryan Shaw talk about the former mission fields becoming a missions force. The Global South is rising up as the Church in the West enters a post-Christian era. Ryan calls discipleship “abandoned devotion to Jesus.” We are sold out, willing to sacrifice it all for the cause of Christ, and ready to display His glory wherever we go! Is this what true discipleship is to you?

The watchword of the Student Volunteer Movement was “the evangelization of the world din this generation.” That was over 120 years ago. Can we see the fulfillment of the Great Commission today? Because of the global demographics of the Church, Ryan Shaw says it can be done in our generation.
