Dr. Todd M. Johnson shares intriguing thoughts about a globalized world and how we need healthy contact between cultures. He says that Christians should meet Christians from other parts of the world as well as connect with unbelievers from other cultures. If you only interact with people of your color, kind, and country, there are facets of God that you may not have recognized yet. The antidote? Step beyond your borders to see the big picture of what God is doing.

From a Western perspective, we tend to think that people are becoming less religious, not more. But Dr. Todd M. Johnson says otherwise. This is why we as believers should know something about different religions. How else can we impact people with the grace and glory of Jesus’ message? Dr. Johnson points us to the bigger picture of global Christianity to understand the deeper perspective of God and His followers on mission today.

Dr. Todd M. Johnson’s father-in-law, Dr. Ralph Winter, and his mentor, David Barrett, encouraged him to study global trends in Christianity. This passion for quantitative research led Dr. Johnson to edit the third edition of the World Christian Encyclopedia (Edinburgh University Press) updating the demographic analysis to 2020 and adding new details on the recent history of Christianity and mission, church and state, religious liberty, and contemporary developments in other religions.

The former mission fields of the past have become a missions force in the world today. Christianity has shifted from North to South and now Global South believers are continuing to take the Gospel message around the world to places it has not gone before. This spread of Christianity is something to be excited about, says Dr. Todd M. Johnson.
