Do What You Love And Love What You Do

David Joannes

This is something I think about every single day.

As a missional starter and artistic creative, a husband, father and advocate for social justice, my roles are vast and expanding daily. Sometimes it’s tough to assemble all the moving parts of life and art to depict unique global stories.

“Creating a life that reflects your values and satisfies your soul is a rare achievement.”

I am on a journey of learning to manage my roles while enjoying the journey.

“Ambition is only understood if it’s to rise to the top of some imaginary ladder of success.”

But that’s not what I want.

I want to love and enjoy my family while reaching unreached and unengaged peoples on the fringes of society. I want to be able to watch my daughter grow up into the girl she is becoming, actively involved in my wife and daughter’s lives as I accomplish all the requirements that modern day ministry places upon a minister of the gospel.

Invent your own life’s meaning—based upon your God-given gifts and calling—in a missional context. [CLICK TO TWEET]

“As if a job title and salary are the sole measure of human worth, you’ll be told in a hundred ways, some subtle and some not, to keep climbing… and never be satisfied with where you are, who you are, and what you’re doing.”

So do what you love and love what you do. Yes, there will be times when you resonate with the “I can’t get no satisfaction” song. But I speak joy, joy, joy over you!

Because remember, you are made to glorify God and enjoy him forever. [CLICK TO TWEET]
